Our take

What a buyer should know

An engineering statement, priced accordingly

The 80 Sunreef Power Eco is a 24.4 m luxury power catamaran for twelve, and its defining feature is not the battery but the roof: up to 200 m² of composite-integrated solar, quoted at roughly 40–45.5 kWp. On a hull this size, that array is not a token gesture — it is enough generating capacity to meaningfully offset hotel loads at anchor, which is where a large charter-style catamaran spends most of its life. Buyers who cruise in a slow, anchor-heavy rhythm in strong sunlight will get far more from this boat than those planning long passages at speed.

Read the specification carefully

The listed 180 kW motor figure describes one configuration, not the boat's ceiling: a custom "Sol" build has been reported at around 990 kWh with 360 kW motors. Battery capacity is deliberately unpublished because it is bespoke per hull, and we will not invent a representative number — it genuinely varies by commission. The same applies to price, which is quote-based.

Two honest caveats. Sunreef is a mixed builder whose volume is conventional, so this is not a company organised solely around electric propulsion. And a bespoke-battery boat cannot be compared like-for-like against a fixed-specification rival; you are buying a negotiation, not a product. Insist that the contract states kWh, continuous kW and realistic range at your intended cruising speed.

Written from the builder’s published specifications and the wider market, not from testing the boat ourselves. Always confirm figures with the manufacturer before committing.
